A mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle. The first stage of the mandala design is to draw a circle around a point. A central point and the symbols, shapes and symbols that come from it.

Mandala is a geometric design that combines art and mathematics with either geometric or organic shapes or recognizable images that are meaningful to the designer.  Mandala represents the connection between our inner world and our outer world.
