About the game: The Flash The Flash is a horizontal scrolling shooting video game developed by Sega. The game's main character pilots a transformable mecha-fighter prototype left over from his grandfather to fight an alien invasion of humanity. The game is mostly a horizontal shooter and has a scroll down stage.
Like most scroll shooters, the player initially has a basic shot that can be upgraded and/or swapped out for different weapons, as well as smaller ships that follow the player's ship and copy its attacks. As usual, these powers are distributed across all levels. They are retained when advancing to the next level but are completely lost when the player dies.
Two additional mechanics set Arrow Flash apart from similar scrolling shooters, one of which is the ability to transform the player's ship. The two available forms are a humanoid car and a fighter jet, which changes the player's weapons depending on the form. The jet form only shoots forward, but can fly horizontally much faster, and the auxiliary ships follow the jet in a snake-like fashion. The mech form has a wider firing angle (sometimes even firing backwards with enough upgrades), higher vertical speed, and support ships stay in a fixed formation in this mode. Missiles are also mechanically placed on enemies, while they just jet straight forward. Regardless of form, the ship is destroyed in just one hit, unless the player picks up an energy shield, which can withstand three hits.
The title of the game "Flash Flash" is a very powerful ability that is different for each form: the jet shoots five large blasts forward, while the mechanical form is engulfed in flames and is immune to attacks for a short time. In the default "Stock" mode, the flashes are instant but limited and must be used sparingly, while the "Charge" mode allows for infinite but weaker flash flashes and must be "charged" before use. .
