This software enables accurate engineering calculations by receiving the technical specifications of the cable and its actual installation conditions. The user can enter information such as cable type, conductor material, insulation type, number of cores, installation method (overhead, underground, on cable trays, etc.), environmental conditions, and the relevant correction factors into the software.
Based on these inputs, SCS (SIMCO Cable Sizer) intelligently calculates the optimal cable cross-sectional area as well as the maximum permissible and safe current for the cable under the specified conditions. The main objective of SCS is to ensure that cable selection is not based merely on experience or scattered reference tables, but rather on standardized, traceable, and engineering-based calculations.
Developed by the Research and Development (R&D) unit, this software assists engineers, electrical network designers, and cable specialists in:
Preventing the selection of cables with insufficient cross-sectional area, which could lead to overcurrent and excessive temperature rise,
Avoiding unnecessary oversizing of cables and the resulting increase in costs, Designing electrical systems in compliance with the requirements of recognized international standards.
In simple terms, SCS acts as a bridge between raw standard data and real-world engineering decision-making. It provides complex cable ampacity calculations in a clear, fast, and reliable manner, helping to make the design process more accurate, safer, and more cost-effective.
Naturally, the development and improvement of this software is a dynamic and ongoing process. Therefore, users are encouraged to share any suggestions, technical feedback, or bug reports with the R&D team via the email address: rd@simcocable.com
