Surah Towba or Bara'at is the ninth surah and one of the civil surahs of the Qur'an, which is in the tenth and eleventh parts of the Qur'an. The naming of this surah as repentance is due to the mention of repentance in several verses of it. The name Barat (disgust) is also taken from its first verse. Surah Towba begins without "Basmillah, Rahman, Raheem" and orders Muslims to cut ties with polytheists and orders the Prophet (PBUH) not to seek forgiveness for polytheists. In this surah, it is also said about Jihad against infidels and polytheists and the issue of zakat. In the narrations, it is said that the Prophet (pbuh) entrusted the delivery of this surah to the polytheists first to Abu Bakr, and then took it from him and left it to Imam Ali (pbuh). Among the famous verses of Surah Toba are Latazn verse, Sadegheen verse, Adhan verse and Nafer verse. In Surah Towba, it is also mentioned about the incident of Masjid Zarar, Ghazwa Hanin and the defiance of some of the Ghazwa Tabuk. It is said in the hadiths that if someone recites Surah Anfal and Surah Towba every month, hypocrisy will never enter his heart and he will be one of the Shiites of Imam Ali (AS).
