Surah An'am is the sixth surah and one of the Meccan surahs of the Qur'an, which is located in the seventh and eighth chapters. The reason for naming this surah as "An'am" (meaning four-legged) is the mention of four-legged in its fifteen verses. The main axis of Surah An'am is the principles of religious beliefs, that is, monotheism, prophecy and resurrection. In this surah, Prophet Ibrahim's protest and conversation with the unbelievers about the worship of the stars and the sun are mentioned. Verse 20 is about the recognition of the characteristics of the Prophet (PBUH) by the people of the book and verse 164 is one of the famous verses of Surah An'am. Some of the verses of Surah An'am, including the prohibition of killing and cursing an infidel, lying to God and the Prophet (PBUH) and eating the meat of an animal that has not been slaughtered with the mention of God's name, are considered among the verses of Al-Ahkam in this Surah. According to some narrations, this surah was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) together with seventy thousand glorifying angels, and whoever recites it, those angels will glorify him until the Day of Resurrection.
